Cuso International is pleased to welcome and introduce our new Programme Manager, Vanessa Thompson. Thompson will lead the organization in Guyana as we continue to implement the Volunteers for International Cooperation and Empowerment (VOICE) programme, with the financial support of the Government of Canada.
With a background in Public Communication, Thompson has worked with multi-stakeholder programmes facilitated by developmental partners such as USAID, UNFPA, CIDA, IADB, UNAIDS, UNDP and the EU.
Her considerable expertise has focused on coordinating and leading developmental initiatives in keeping with local, regional and international goals, particularly in the areas of Advocacy, Resource Mobilization, Capacity Strengthening, Sustainable Livelihood Development, Enhancement of Trust and Security, Poverty Reduction and Gender Equity.
She has worked with disadvantaged community-based groups and their key stakeholders, across the ten administrative regions of Guyana. She has a keen interest in improving the standard of living of the underprivileged, especially children, youth and women.
Thompson has a Master of Arts Degree in Counselling Psychology, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Developmental Studies and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communications.
Cuso International is a development organization that works to reduce poverty and inequality through skilled volunteers, collaborative partnerships and compassionate donors. Over the past six years, Cuso International has matched more than 175 volunteers with local partners in Guyana.
