Former Member of the Board of Directors of the Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI), Mr. Charles Ceres, today rubbished a Stabroek News article that sought to imply that his resignation from the Board was due to a fallout with the company’s Managing Director, Dr. Richard Van West-Charles.
“I’ve been reading a lot of stuff in Stabroek which indicates that apparently they have a source which indicated to them that my resignation was due to some level of animosity between myself and the CEO. I would like to say that is totally incorrect”, Mr. Ceres stated.
His comments came as he sought to bring clarity to the reason behind his resignation during a press conference.
Ceres, who was speaking in the presence of Dr. Van West-Charles in the company’s boardroom, said his resignation came following increased demands for his time at his company, Ground Structures Engineering Consultants.
He added that his responsibility to his employees supersedes any other.
“I opted out of being a member of the board of GWI simply because I cannot give of the time that is required to ensure that my tenure at GWI is going to contribute to the development of the organisation. That is the sole reason for my resignation”, he explained.
Mr. Ceres, who resigned on July 8, 2016, said he continues to offer expert advice to Dr. Van West-Charles regarding the operations of GWI.
Meanwhile, responding to a question posed by a Stabroek News reporter regarding his company carrying out work for GWI, the former Board Member said, “If we are given work by GWI it would be because of my ability to get the work done”.
