In a recent release, the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) has announced that it “officially commenced Tax Sites operations from today Thursday, 21 April 2016 at Muneshwers Ltd, Water Street (Opposite Fogarty’s), City Mall, Camp Street (Ground Floor) and GRA Headquarters, 200-201 Camp Street”.
The tax sites which will be facilitating the collection of tax returns, will be opened from 09:00hrs to 16:00hrs during the period; Thursday April 21 to Friday April 29 with the exception of weekends.
GRA reminds that, “Submissions can also be done at the GRA’s regional offices at Parika, Anna Regina, Corriverton, New Amsterdam, Bartica, Lethem and Linden. Additionally drop boxes will also be available at each of these locations for taxpayers to utilise”.
Additionally, “Taxpayers are reminded that when filing returns they should ensure that the required information is included before lodging; Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN), Identi¬fication/ Passport Number, personal address, Occupation, Employer’s Name, Earning Period and signature”, GRA notes.
Taxpayers, especially those in the employee category, are also reminded to attach the Emolument/7B slip to the Income Tax Return. “This slip must be stamped and signed by their employer and must reflect the employees’ earnings and deductions for the year including NIS Contributions”, the release explained.
