Ministry of Education has announced that “The Commission of Inquiry (COI) into the Education System will be holding its first public consultation on Friday, April 22, 2016 at the Saints Stanislaus College, Brickdam”.
According the Ministry’s release, consultation is expected to start at 16:30 hours (4:30pm).
The objective of the COI is to establish a baseline analysis of the state of public education in Guyana and recommend broad strategic guidelines for the enhancement of public education.
The release added that “Notices have been placed in the press inviting members of the public to submit memoranda on their perception of the state of the Education System, inclusive of factual illustrations where possible, and recommendations for the enhancement of the System. Memoranda should be submitted no later than May 14, 2016, and should be addressed to the Ministry of Education Commission of Inquiry Secretariat, Ministry of Education, 26 Brickdam, Stabroek or via email: firstname.lastname@example.org”.
It also wishes to remind persons desirous of supplementing their memoranda with oral presentations to the Commission, may indicate, in their submission. However, those persons “desirous of making oral submissions without submitting memoranda may also write to the Commission, no later than April 30, 2016 expressing the desire to do so”.
In the meantime, Consultations are scheduled Friday April 29, 2016 at 16:30hrs (4:30pm) in the Auditorium of the National Centre for Educational Resource Development (NCERD), which is located in Kingston.
Consultations will follow on Wednesday May 4, 2016 at 16:30hrs (4:30pm) at St. Stanislaus College
